FALL GOLF

I participated in a one day tournament this past weekend.
It was a two man team event with breakdown as folows.
first six holes were best ball net, second six holes were true alternate shot( my personal favorite), and last six holes were two man scramble. I was nowhere to be found on first three, but found a little something and parred four, five, and six( just missed nine foot birdie on five-). we decided to have Tom hit drive on seven( he can really bomb it!), however, today he hit it thirty yards left into deep gourse. That led to net par. Eigth hole is uphill par three, one hundred ninety six yards to a blind green. I hit five wood to correct shelf, and measured with a close to pin golf tool for a distance of twenty-three foot five inchs. My partner hit and indifferent putt and left me with six feet to save. i proceeded to lip it on the pro side and we took our first bogey of the day. The last par three on Poland springs resort course is uphill, one hundred fifty nine yards to another blind green. With wind in our face and a blue pin, I decided on four iron. Amongst the chatter of the group behind us, I hit my best of the day. As we approached the green, I could see I was pin high but al ittle left. Tom said “better measure that one!”. The Poland Spring custom logo measuring device had yet to be touched. We measured at thirteen feet even, and wrote it on the pin sheet. After getting a good look at Tom’s attempt, I rolled it in for our first natural birdie of the day. That put us back to one under for tournament.
Although we were pretty flat after that, we finished a respectable sixty-nine. This ended up six shots back of leaders, but I did win the closest to the pin contest for a return of seventy dollars. Luckily this just covered my tab at the nine-teenth hole. A great day overall.
